Rick Archer Lecture

Print

October 25th, 6:30 PM Community Life Lounge

For Rick Archer, learning is why he lives. His passion for learning and his belief in the power of physical place to shape people’s lives has led Rick to projects that address issues of vital importance to society, such as education, sustainability, and the marginalized. Rick advocates for a process of deep, strategic inquiry in collaboration with clients and stakeholder groups. It is through engaging clients and stakeholders, their culture, their place, and their mission that he learns from them and is able to uncover innovative solutions that reveal the embedded potential of a project.

Rick served as lead architect on various size and types of educational projects and master plans from the Episcopal School of Dallas Master Plan, Lower School, and STEM Facility, to the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin (a forerunner of the green building movement), and from the Northeast Lakeview Campus Master Plan for Alamo Colleges in San Antonio, to the East Mall Master Plan at The University of Texas at Austin. He is sensitive to the rich histories and traditions of organizations that promote excellence in education and are committed to developing our future leaders, and strives to bring tenable master planning solutions that will support the continued efforts of these institutions.
